
About PPIA and KIPI
What's PPIA?
Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di Australia (PPIA) or the Indonesian Students’ Association of Australia is the world’s largest organization of overseas Indonesian students. Founded in the city of Canberra in 1981, PPIA now represents over 20,000 students in Australia. Beyond being an organization that advocates for Indonesian students in Australia, PPIA also aims to celebrate the achievements of Indonesian youths everywhere and bridge the ideas and aspirations of Indonesian students from within Australia and, through networks of scholars around the world.

Introducing KIPI
Konferensi Internasional Pelajar Indonesia (KIPI) is PPIA's largest project and an academic event that biennially gathers tens of Indonesian students and researchers from around the world to discuss some of the major burning issues in Indonesia.
Past KIPI conferences held by PPIA took place, among others, in Brisbane, Queensland (2012); Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (2014); Adelaide, South Australia (2016); and Perth, Western Australia (2018). Past conferences touched upon themes such as “digital society” and the “MDGs and global development agenda,” and was attended by prominent Indonesian figures, including Professor Hasyim Djalal, former Trade Minister Mari Pangestu, and former Vice-Foreign Minister Dino Patti Djalal. The conference has also received wide coverage from media outlets, including Metro TV News, Antara News, Radio Australia, Pikiran Rakyat Newspaper, and detik.com.
